The loss of a husband and the depression enveloping Beatrice was heartfelt! Her story and the ache in her heart could be felt with the description of her day to day life after the death of her beloved husband James. After a couple years of mourning, Beatrice agrees to venture out of her home with James and visit her long time best friend Helena in the Scottish Highlands. What an adventure that trip turned out to be. After a traumatic attack and finding her way alone to shelter and safety, she meets up with the most alluring, kind and sexy highlander who turns her life upside down with passion she has never seen the likes of. Beatrice is a strong and resourceful women, but she struggles with letting go of the past and quilt of the thought of moving on with her life. Brody has had his own heartache with loss and has delt with quilt and sadness over the death of a very special child. He is kind hearted and has a lot of love to give. The story of Beatrice and Brodie has many twists and turns. Adventure abounds. But, with loss and heartache and the support of family and true friends, Beatrice and Brodie can have their happily ever after. Loved their story! Read every page in less than two days. Couldn’t put it down to find out how these two could put all their heartache behind them and find true love and happiness.

After grieving for her deceased husband, James, for two years, Beatrice goes to visit her girlfriend Helena and her husband Marcus in Scotland. On the way her carriage is stopped by Scottish highwaymen and she is knocked unconscious. When she comes to she finds herself not only bruised, and robbed of her jewelry and belongings, but her drivers dead. She eventually finds her way to a tavern where she runs into Brodie. When there are no more rooms available, Brodie offers Beatrice his room for the night and he goes to sleep in the stable. When he checks on her to see if there was anything else she needed, they both act on their attraction to each other and spend the night. When she wakes up in the morning she’s overcome with guilt over her deceased husband and she sneaks out of the room and continues on her way to her friend Helena. She is there for a short time when Brodie arrives and she realizes then that Brodie is Marcus‘s brother. They each have guilt feelings they need to overcome— Beatrice dealing with her husband‘s death and Brodie dealing with the death of a boy in the village that he had become close with. Both Beatrice and Brody deserved happiness and love in their lives and I found myself hoping that they would be able to overcome all the obstacles in their way. This was a very heartwarming story by an author who is a great storyteller. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Highly enjoyable storyline. Feelings of loss, heartache and guilt are shared by both main characters. Can the love they are starting to feel for each other overcome the pain of their pasts? Brodie and Beatrice are both strong characters who have seen much in their lives. This book held my interest all the way through. Well done!
